Frequently Asked Questions

When is it not recommended to undergo Thai massage?

Thai massage is not recommended soon after healed fractures, while undergoing tendon inflammation and where there is the need for calm for healing to take place. We would interfere with this when conducting a massage. With some medical conditions, massages are not recommended, but could still be done when the technique and method is adapted based on the health condition of the client. Small burns could be an example. If you suffer from allergies, please do not hesitate and contact us. We will use the correct oils and other required substances. With heart conditions, we recommend consulting your doctor prior to a visit.

What health problems can be addressed by Thai massage and when is it suitable to undertake it?

Thai massage works great when for example you have a blocked back, neck, shoulder pains, a strained ankle or shoulder blades. A common reason why our clients visit is due to head pains. Thai massage helps treat tired feet, joint pains, releases tense muscles, strengthens the immune system and helps by improving the correct flow of blood. Essentially, it serves best as a preventative measure for all of the above mentioned problems.

What is the right course of action following Thai massage?

We recommend drinking considerable amounts of water because toxins initiated by the massage need a way to leave the body. After a massage, it is recommended to rest ideally for tens of minutes. If it is possible, we recommend going into a hot bathtub, whirlpool or spa.

Is Thai massage limited by a person’s age?

Thai massage is suitable for everyone, regardless of their age. Our masseuses always consider the age and health condition of each client and adapt the massage accordingly. It could be generally said however, that for small children and senior citizens, relaxation oil (Aroma Oil) massages are more suitable.

Can I go for a massage when I do not fell well?

Thai massage, in the case of sickness or flu is not suitable. However, if you simply feel tired or have a bad mood as a result of daily routine and responsibilities, Thai massage is indeed something that you should turn to. All massages have a positive impact on you, relaxing your muscles and regenerating your muscles and senses.

What should the food/liquid intake be before, during and after the massage?

It is essential that you ensure a stable liquid intake during the day. Do not hesitate to ask us for a glass of water or a cup of hot tea. It is even more important after the massage because the toxins released during the procedure have to have a way to leave the body. Food before the massage is not an obstacle, but if you are right after a larger meal, we recommend taking a one hour break prior to it.

Should traditional Thai massage be painful and is the pain a signal that something is not in order?

If you have never been to a massage before and you did not pay sufficient attention to your body, your first massage may be slightly painful, but not uncomfortable. Our muscles are often tense from our workload and it is not uncommon to have painful muscles due to incorrect posture, incorrect walking, sitting by the computer, driving etc. The process of fixing these problems can be slightly painful, but definitely beneficial for you.

Is Thai massage suitable for pregnant women?

Thai massage is suitable and actually very beneficial during most of the pregnancy. Unfortunately, many misconceptions and faulty pieces of information exist in our society specifically concerning the supposed impact of massages on women as well as their yet-to-be-born children. For the most part, this is caused by a lack of information as well as exaggerated care for the child. Many women therefore miss out on the benefits of pre-natal massage. During the first three months of pregnancy, a woman can have a normal Thai massage based on her requests and preferences. From the fourth until the eight month, a woman should request only pre-natal massages. Pregnant women which treat themselves with a massage will relax their muscles, their sleep will be better and they will better respond to stress. Further, it improves immunity, blood circulation and improves the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the fetus. Future mothers are less tired.

At what intervals should one have Thai massages?

As a pleasing method of relaxation, you can go for a massage as often as you would like. If you do not have any health problems and you would like to prevent them, a visit once every two weeks or month is sufficient. You will relax the neck muscles which are under heavy daily pressure, you will prevent head pains and you will stretch tense muscles. You will improve blood flow, strengthen the nervous system and relax your mind along with a feeling of being full of energy. In the case of more serious mobility issues, with migraine problems, insomnia and stress, treat yourself with massage more frequently.
